Morocco is a traveler’s dream and a runner’s playground. From the souks and snake charmers of Marrakech to the dramatic landscapes of the countryside to the delicously fresh, organic food and sweet mint tea found everywhere, your senses will be overwhelmed. The culture is exotic, the hospitality top-notch and the High Atlas running - from idyllic meadows and technical singletrack to dirt roads wind- ing through canyons - is absolutely spectacular. No matter how fast you run, life continues to move slowly in Morocco: you will see, learn, taste and experience more than you ever imagined.
Dates: 15th - 19th of October 2016
2017 dates to be announced!
Note: The Day 2 run is fully flexible in terms of distance. Days 3 & 4 are fixed point-to-points.
DAY 1: Arrive in Marrakech, where we will pick you up from the airport and take you to a beautiful riad in the city center. Spend the afternoon exploring the souks and checking out the performers & snake charmers of the D’jemma el Fna before a big welcome din- ner with the group and a good night of sleep. No running
DAY 2: After breakfast we will head to Imlil, a beautiful mountain town that serves as a base for many High Atlas trekkers. The run will take us down a jeep track that encircles the next valley over, offering sweeping views of rivers, orchards, towering peaks and probably some fall colors. The run finishes with a big climb back to- wards Imlil, then the rest of the day is free for relaxing at our beau- tiful restored kasbah and exploring the village. 30km, 4x4 track
DAY 3: Wake up early for a big breakfast and get ready to hit the trails! We’ll head to Tizi n Tichka, a dramatic mountain pass that marks the start of the run. The route takes us along a gorgeous singletrack trail towards the Zat Valley. Pass through small Berber villages that are only accessible on foot, and cover everything from rocky ridgeline and pristine meadows to canyon descents and river crossings. We’ll meet our crew in a tiny village that will be home for the night. Overnight essentials will be brought by mule, dinner will
be served by our chef and everyone will be able to gather and relax inside the gite (a cozy travelers shelter) before heading right outside to sleep in comfortable tents. 28km, single track trail & 4x4 track
DAY 4: Wake up to a stunning view outside your tent, then set out for an absolutely magical run into the Ourika Valley. Get ready for idyllic meadows filled with sheep, dramatic mountain views and no other people save for a few shepherds. Transport will be waiting at the end of the trail and we’ll transfer to a nearby riad for an after- noon of well-deserved recovery and a final Moroccan feast. 21km, single track trail
DAY 5: Enjoy a well-deserved morning to sleep in, then wake up for a big breakfast before we pack up and head to Marrakech to catch flights home, or connect to additional travel.
